EEPIS Online, (31/07) Finally EEPIS ENGLISH DEBATE CONTEST 2009 found the winners after had been held for two days in a row (July 30-31, 2009). They are; RID team from 1 D4 IT A as the 1st champion, After Break team from D3 Telkon A as the runner up, and Fun & Care team from Class 2 D4 Elka A as the 2nd runner up.
The first day of EEDC 2009 was held in EEPIS Theatre Hall. The opening session was done by Drs. Miftahul Huda, M.T as the 3rd Assistant of EEPIS Director. 12 teams followed the qualification which was held until afternoon. Today, 6 teams from each qualification can go to the next level tomorrow.
On the second day of EEDC 2009 was held at English Laboratory HH-202. In the next qualification, 6 of the teams that passed the qualification before will be chosen 4 teams which will go to the next level to choose 2 teams for the final. The finalist announcement was held in a long time, started in the afternoon until nightfall.
Finally all participants were allowed to get into the English Laboratory HH-202 at 5 p.m. Mr. Irwan Sumarsono as an adjudicator announced that RID and After Break teams are the teams who could go to the final. After that, both of the teams were doing Case Building with motion “This House would support complete ban of the use of plastic bagâ€, the affirmative team is After Break and the negative one is RID team. Because of the maghrib pray break, the final was held about at 6.30 p.m.
The EEPIS ENGSLIS DEBATE CONTEST 2009 final was very competitively, the speakers from both teams were able to deliver their case clearly, confidently, and try to convince that their case were the strongest to the audience in EEDC 2009 until the end of the debate.
Finally the adjudicators officially announced that RID team from 1 D4 IT A won the 1st rank in 829 score. This team consists of Diptia Zandra E. P., Melisa Ulfa R. A., and Hendri Ramadhan as the 1st, 2nd dan 3rd Speaker. The runner up is After Break team from 1 D3 Telkom A; the member are Furi Diah A., Dwi Dharmi S., and Yogiokto Agae A. the 2nd runner up is Fun & Care team from Class 2 D4 Elka A; the members are Lucky Karunia S.P., Ade Kusuma, dan Nanta Fakih.
The announcement for the Best Speaker had been delayed because the adjudicators had to assess the speaker score and it spent long time. The chosen Best Speaker will be the representative of EEPIS in National Polytechnic English Debate Competition (NPEDC 2009) which will be held for the first time on next October in Pliteknik Negeri Bali.
