Surabaya, pens.ac.id – A series of activities for Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (PENS) was held again. Taking place for three days starting from Wednesday (3/8), this PKKMB activity aims to introduce the scope of the EEPIS campus for 2022 New Students. New students from the Associate Expert Program (D3) and Applied Undergraduate Program (D4) at the central campus have the opportunity to take the PKKMB offline. in the Hall Building D4 PENS. Meanwhile, new students from the Outside Main Campus Study Program (PSDKU) participated in the online PKKMB via Zoom Video Conference.
This PKKMB activity was attended by new students from 15 study programs including PSDKU students. The first day of PKKMB was presented with various materials from the EEPIS Board of Directors, ranging from academics, general administration and finance, student affairs and human resources, to communication and electronic data processing. PENS also invited speakers from outside who brought general material such as the dangers of drugs and healthy living behaviors as well as university materials in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and new life after the pandemic.
The opening of the PKKMB by Ali Ridho Barakbah, S. Kom., Ph.D. as Director of PENS held on the second day. Followed by the introduction of the ranks of Deputy Directors, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Study Programs in the session. In his presentation, Ali Ridho explained from the history of PENS to the great achievements that have been achieved by PENS to date. The Director of PENS also advised that PENS students could apply the slogan Honest. Original, Enthusiastic, Courteous (JOSS) in each one.
On the second and third days, the activities were filled with introductions about campus. These materials include cooperation and partnerships, the Office of International Affairs (KUI), campus internet networks, and presentations from outstanding EEPIS students. Speakers from outside EEPIS who were present on the second day brought material on patriotism and building student achievements for Indonesia. The last day of PKKMB activities was held offline and filled with introductions to Departments and Study Programs, effective learning strategies, student activities, ethics and manners in the campus environment, career units and potential alumni to presentations on activities around talent interests.
The success of this PKKMB event certainly cannot be separated from the coordination of the committee. The order and discipline of the participants also helped the committee to make the event a success. Through PKKMB, it is hoped that participants will be able to get to know the campus environment and know the existing facilities before entering the lecture period. “In my opinion, this PKKMB activity helps new students in the process of introducing the campus environment. The invited speakers are also quite varied and of course highly dedicated so that the presentation is easy to understand,” said one of the new students, Najma Akmalina Ni'ma. (rif)
